Playing in the Sun

Posted by Lee (Fort Frances Ontario, Canada) on 7 March 2009 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

The other day the sun came out. First time in a while. The temperature warmed up to -9 degrees. I ventured out with my trusty camera. After an hour or so I managed to capture a rewarding spread of Black Capped Chickadee shots. These little guys were just enjoying the sunlight. The ground was blanketed with a soft white powder. They were putting on quite a show. I was their only audience. The light was right, the shadows were strong and the show went on. The birds welcomed the sun as much as I did. Hope you enjoy these shots half as much as I enjoyed capturing them.

Thank you for visiting my site. I consider myself to be lucky living where I do. Everyday I wake up to a wealth of interesting visual scenarios. Most of my pictures are Wildlife and Nature taken from around the area. The area specifically being Fort Frances Ontario on beautiful Rainy Lake. Feel free to comment on what you see. Denise from Perry, United States

Absolutely fantastic , were they actually playing, was there a food source nearby that they were attracted to? It was in the 60's here yesterday, sent most of the day outside, just couldn't get enough of it.

8 Mar 2009 12:20pm

@Denise: I watch these birds forage every day. I actually thought they were enjoying the sun and snow. There was no birder feeder near by. Another 4-5 weeks and it'll in the sizties here to. Thank you for the compliment.
