Spring Delicacies

Posted by Lee (Fort Frances Ontario, Canada) on 5 April 2009 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

When the willow trees start to bloom and bud the Cedar Waxwings will flock to these trees. I can only assume that the blossom taste is a delicacy. I have watched these birds for hours. They really seem to enjoy the taste of these blossoms.

ah Lee, a wonderful capture! Birds are so small and it it very difficult to get a nice - not blurry shot! I have tried and tried and tried and they are all blurry. :(, ok, yes, I could set up my tripod, but that just takes away the fun..... :)

Oh, how I tried to get them in my backyard, bait them with food, stayed under the sun for awhile... but I guess, my backyard is not as homely as yours. :-)))) and not this variety..

Jason Kravitz from Brussels, Belgium

I love those Cedar Waxwings - they look like little bandits. One of my first Aminus3 posts way back in 2004 was a picture of one of these little guys....

5 Apr 2009 4:29pm

@Jason Kravitz: They do look like little bandits. Their black mask and eyes are very hard to expose for. I just love their colouration.
