Northern Magesty

Posted by Lee (Fort Frances Ontario, Canada) on 22 April 2009 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

I am quite proud of this shot. It was taken two summers ago. This Blad Eagle was sitting and watching us. We were working on an addition for a client out on Rainy Lake. When we left at the end of the day I spotted this eagle. He was magnificent. The light was harsh but had a golden hue about it. We shoved off in the boat and slowly headed toward it. I just kept foucusing and shooting. When we were to close it just pushed off from its perch and flew above us and across the bay. I have gifted this shot several times. I have exhibited this shot several. I always receive great comments about this shot. It was printed on canvas 24" X 36" and framed.

Well I'm proud to say it sold last week. Wooo hooo! I can buy more digital film now.

I am very pleased.

Beautiful picture Lee, the exposure is spot on to keep the detail in the white feathers on what looks like a bright day. They are so majestic looking, no wonder the US chose them as their national emblem. You should be proud of such a detailed classic shot.

There are just no words to express my admiration for this photo and your ability to capture it - especially, in the wild and not in a zoo!! I shot dozens and dozens of frames trying to get a good shot of an eagle while cruising the San Juan Islands two summers ago and nothing comes close to what you've managed to get here. This is simply a 10 star photo and you have every right to be proud!!
