YearlingPosted by Lee (Fort Frances Ontario, Canada) on 17 June 2009 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio. Spotted this yearling a fewdays back munching on some new shoots. I can't believe that their hair hasn't quite completely changed yet. They still have that drabby brown about them, not the rusty red they should have this time of year. Thank you for visiting my site. I consider myself to be lucky living where I do. Everyday I wake up to a wealth of interesting visual scenarios. Most of my pictures are Wildlife and Nature taken from around the area. The area specifically being Fort Frances Ontario on beautiful Rainy Lake. Feel free to comment on what you see. I look forward to hearing from you. If you like what you see, please rate it. Better yet, bookmark the site and drop back often. I will be posting daily.

@Lylou & Roland: Thank you. @Hidalgo: Thank you Hidalgo Baby Sis from CanadaNice capture, love the grass in the mouth. You're right about everything behind, we really have not had a spring, been very cold a wet. 17 Jun 2009 9:32am @Baby Sis: The same here. Summer is here and it seems winter just left. Rui from Leiria, PortugalGreat shot! You caught right in the act... eating! :) Excellent definition. 17 Jun 2009 10:41am @Rui: Thank you very much. grouser from Ludlow, United KingdomWent kind of mad with the framing saw recently I see Lee. I liked the second post of the fox better and all the shots since. This is lovely too but what a small head it has, don't you think? 17 Jun 2009 11:04am @grouser: I have these premade frames at the click of a mouse. Made em up last winter. This animal is less than 3 feet tall. It is only a little yearling. @Lorraine: Thank you very much Lorraine. Eric Cousineau from Sherwood Park, CanadaBrilliant capture Lee! I agree, everything seems 5 - 6 weeks late this year... ;-) 17 Jun 2009 12:52pm @Eric Cousineau: Very strange year indeed. I wonder what is going to be ahead of us. Sarah from SwitzerlandStunning - I'm very jealous of all that you get to witness! 17 Jun 2009 1:16pm @Sarah: Thank you Sarah. Others call this the wilderness and cannot be bothered with it. I think it is heaven. @Linda: Thank you Evelyne Dubos from Le Mans, FranceLovely capture... like the grass in her mouth. 17 Jun 2009 2:37pm @Evelyne Dubos: Thank you. It was perfect timing. Continual shoot mode works well sometimes. Viewfinder from Bradenton, FL, United StatesLooks to me like patches of the emerging rusty color are starting to show in spots - legs, knees. The change might not take very long. BTW, this is a really great photo. A lot of times, deer are just standing there staring. This one is eating and staring, and that adds a lot of interest, IMO. 17 Jun 2009 2:55pm @Viewfinder: Thank you Glenn. I know what you mean. I have too many shots of them just standing and staring. LauraS from Chico, United StatesEating that grass makes it look like she has a wiring mustache@! And yes, a small head. 17 Jun 2009 3:38pm @LauraS: It is a small animal. That is probably why the head looks small. It will fill out this year. The grass did help make the shot. Loner from Wörgl, AustriaWow, a very good shot ! You must be all time in natur ! 17 Jun 2009 5:31pm @Loner: Nature is my back yard. Every day I get to see wildlife in its glory. I am definately most fortunate. jamesy from christchurch, New Zealandbeautiful looks like she just saw you and is ready to bolt 17 Jun 2009 7:39pm @jamesy: It does look like that. However, I have several other shots of her eating. She did not bolt. Shar from Regina, SK, CanadaLooks like you interrupted someone's lunch...I love that rusty red colour that you spoke of! 17 Jun 2009 8:09pm @Shar: I caught her in the act. At least it wasn't the flowers this time. They seem to enjoy eating everyone's flowers and gardens. The red colour will appear very soon I imagine. Susan from Fort Lauderdale, FL, United StatesGreat shot Lee..... and looks like he's wearing that grass as his moustache!!! 17 Jun 2009 8:38pm @Susan: Thank you Susan @PD: Thank you. Please drop by and visit again. @Alun: Thank you @Sandrine: Thanks Sandrine Kathe from Marquette, Michigan, United StatesSome of the deer here are still losing their winter coats. I agree - it DOES seem like everything is a few weeks behind this year. 18 Jun 2009 12:09am @Kathe: It is all late this year. I hope the summer lingers also. BIG SiS and brother-inlaw from Petawawa Ontario, CanadaHi Lee; we are about the same here, everyting feels like spring not summer !! Nice shot though !! 18 Jun 2009 2:53am @BIG SiS and brother-inlaw: Thank you for the compliment. It is all late. @Veronique: Thank you Veronique. Denise from Duncannon, United StatesThe grass in her mouth makes this such a living shot. She is so beautiful, fantastic work, like always! 19 Jun 2009 2:05am @Denise: Thank you Denise. mats from Texas, United StatesYou mean they don't have that TAN look yet? :-) agree with Veronique. 19 Jun 2009 4:58am @mats: That TAN look. I like it. I almost didn't post this image. Thanks Mats. Lesley from Lincoln, United StatesExcuse me, but do I have something in my teeth? ;) 20 Jun 2009 2:16pm @Lesley: Thank you Lesley. @MARIANA: Thank you Mariana. |
