Move Over Make Room Gotta Put Down Now

Posted by
Lee (Fort Frances Ontario, Canada) on 12 September 2009 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

Everywhere there seems to be eagles right now. SHortly there will be even more for a while. Not quite sure what the bird on top was upset about. But every time the other eagle landed, it would try to land directly on top of the landed bird. And no, it is not mating season LOL.

Thank you for visiting my site. I consider myself to be lucky living where I do. Everyday I wake up to a wealth of interesting visual scenarios. Most of my pictures are Wildlife and Nature taken from around the area. The area specifically being Fort Frances Ontario on beautiful Rainy Lake. Feel free to comment on what you see. Incredible capture. Simply phenomenal. Bravo!!

12 Sep 2009 2:48pm

@john4jack: Thank you Jack.

Nathan from Whitehorse, Canada

That is definitely a great shot, Lee. They way you captured the action is impressive! I would assume the one eagle was protecting its territory by chasing off the other eagle. Any babies in the area?

I absolutely love everything about nature and wildlife and I have often thought about trying to capture the beauty through a lens but didn't know where to start. Have you ever thought about adding a "How To Photograph Nature" section to your blog? I know I would definitely benefit from it. It would help answer questions like "Do I need an expensive camera to take good nature photos", etc.

Keep up the great work!
I can't wait for tomorrow's photo!

Nathan

12 Sep 2009 2:51pm

@Nathan: Thank you Nathan. I will try to put some more info into the narrative from now on.

Susan from Fort Lauderdale, FL, United States

I still just don't get how you are ALWAYS in the right place, just at the right time....Another incredible catch...I'd be thrilled to just see ONE eagle somewhere, and here you are with 2, posing beautifully for you!! Can't even find the words to describe this one, it's just that good!!

12 Sep 2009 3:08pm

@Susan: LOL. Well Susan, a lot of it has to do with the fact I am always out and about in the wild. This time of year the eagles start gathering before they slowly head out. Some stay all year round, others travel a little further south.

Sarah from Suisse, Switzerland

What a catch! You and your timing can't be beat Lee!!

12 Sep 2009 3:34pm

@Sarah: Thank you for the huge compliment Sarah.

Viewfinder from Bradenton, FL, United States

Fantastic capture. How wild and beautiful can it get?

12 Sep 2009 4:41pm

@Viewfinder: Thank you Glenn. I don't know if it gets any better than this or not. Ig it does, I hope I am there to witness it.

mascha from kootstertille, Netherlands

What a fantastic photograph, how long have you have wait for you this shot could take? And on what kind of distance and with which lens?
Well done!! Be curiously a lot to the photograph of tommorow !! Bye Mascha

12 Sep 2009 5:27pm

@mascha: Thank you MAscha. This particular image was a coincidence for me. I was going to photograph the eagle flying, it just kept flying to this one on the ground. I had a few tries to get this shot. I suspect I was about 100 yards away from them. And I always use my 400mm lens when photographiong wildlife. You take care. Have a good day.

Demo from Villeneuve d, France

I love bald eagle. It will be fantastic for me to see only one (free), and you , you can stay with 2. Sure you're lucky to living where you do! Thanks to share this wild nature with us.

Beautiful. Nice catch.

12 Sep 2009 10:43pm

@Vitor Martins: Thank you

B. Thomas from Arlington, Texas, United States

Beautiful. I can't imagine having eagles all around. Even in Glacier, Yellowstone and Alaska, we never got really close to any of them.

13 Sep 2009 3:54am

@B. Thomas: It reall makes me wonder why there are pockets of these great birds. They are common throughout North America. Yet for some reason (food) they seem to be more abundant on some areas than others. And sometimes they are approachable and other times they are flying at 3 miles high.

Evelyne Dubos from Le Mans, France
